For years the off-road motorcycle manufactures have developed suspensions for the masses. This set up can work for certain weight, ability and terrain, but for the majority of riders the stock spring rates and valving are not accurate. The stock set up can make bikes soft, with a hard deflective area when the rider pushes too far through the suspension’s stroke. It can also be hard and deflective on rocks and roots causing the rider to slow down or get bounced off the trail.

First we start with stock suspension. Then we set-up the chassis for that individual rider for comfort, control and speed, this includes setting fork height, handlebars, seat height, levers and controls. Then we test several different spring rates both stiffer and softer to obtain the best bike feel using the stop watch to confirm what riders are feeling. Then we try different compression, midvalve and rebound valve combinations with different spring rates. Last we adjust suspension clickers, chassis attitude, tire pressures and sag to arrive at fastest, most consistent lap times for that track on that day in those conditions. We test at different locations with different types of terrain to determine what will give our riders the fastest and most consistent lap times. This process is time consuming but is what the pro riders go through during their test sessions and race preparation. This process will best prepare riders for the terrain that they will be riding and racing on.
